RAMALLAH, Palestine, Nov. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- OneVoice Palestine (OVP) will hold their largest tree planting of 2014 in Hebron on Saturday, November 15 at 10:00am local time. The event, in partnership with Hebron's Fatah Movement, is part of OVP's "The Land is Ours" campaign, which encourages young Palestinians to participate in non-violent resistance to end the occupation, realize the two-state solution, and establish an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 lines with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The activities will demonstrate OVP's peaceful popular resistance model, where dozens of young Palestinians and volunteers from OneVoice will march from Bear Qous Hall in Beit Oula to Attous, near the village of Tarqumiyah, to plant hundreds of olive trees.
The march to Attous will follow a political conference on the anniversary of Palestine's declaration of independence and the Palestinian leadership's efforts in the United Nations.
"The Land is Ours" campaign, launched on September 25, builds on the 2012 mobilization effort, "The Land is Ours, Leave Us Be," which addressed the expansion of settlements by planting hundreds of trees in a number of areas threatened by confiscation.
About the OneVoice Movement:
OneVoice is an international grassroots movement that amplifies the voice of mainstream Israelis and Palestinians, empowering them to propel their elected representatives toward the two-state solution. The Movement works to forge consensus for conflict resolution and build a human infrastructure capable of mobilizing the people toward a negotiated, comprehensive and permanent agreement between Israel and Palestine that ends the occupation, ensures security and peace for both sides, and solves all final-status issues in accordance with international law and previous bilateral agreements. The 1967 borders form the basis for the establishment of an independent, viable Palestinian state, with permanent borders and any modifications to be agreed upon by both parties. The Movement recognizes that violence by either side will never be a means to end the conflict.
