OneTaste Debuts Project "Orgasm Is ___________," A New Pop-Up Storefront in Union Square That Breathes Life Into the Dying Book Industry
SF WOMEN INVITED TO CREATE FILL-IN-THE-BLANK POSTERS DEFINING ORGASM FOR THEMSELVES (MEN WELCOME TOO) FEATURING THE BOOK Slow Sex: The Art and Craft of the Female Orgasm
SAN FRANCISCO, June 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In a time when bricks-and-mortar book retail is a dying industry, OneTaste has launched Project "Orgasm Is ________," the first pop-up shop in the world that allows people to "live" a book. Inspired by the book Slow Sex: The Art and Craft of the Female Orgasm by OneTaste founder Nicole Daedone, this living bookstore experience allows women (and men) to have an interactive experience of the book—redefining what orgasm means to them by writing their own definition on the walls.
Located at 211 Sutter Street, Project "Orgasm Is ________" will be open 7 days a week through July 18, 2011. The Grand Opening will take place on Wednesday, June 29th at 7pm and will feature music, chocolate tastings, art installations, door prizes, and more. Press/media only are invited for a special VIP media hour from 6-7pm on June 29. (Please provide business card for entry.)
The walls and windows of the shop are papered with "Orgasm Is ______" posters and women are chalking the walls with their responses. Throughout the store, people are living the slow experience of tasting food, learning about slow sex vs. regular sex and more.
"It's going to be a very different definition of orgasm than we know," says Daedone of the redefinition happening in real time on the walls of the shop. "It's not going to be that fleeting moment of climax that seems to take the whole rest of the act hostage. Rather than trying to stuff a woman's body into an ill-fitting definition, we have the definition work with what the woman's body does."
The pop-up store, located in the swanky area of San Francisco known as Union Square, is 8,000 square feet and decorated only by women's definitions of their own orgasm.
"The amazing thing is that when you have women define their own orgasm, the whole notion of 'frigidity,' or a woman being anorgasmic, flies out the window," said Daedone. "And what it's replaced with is a journey of an entire lifetime, discovering who you are and how your particular orgasm works."
