One Show Design Announces 2013 Winners
Leo Burnett/Chicago Wins Best of Show
NEW YORK, May 6, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The One Club (www.oneclub.org) announced today the winners for the 13th Annual One Show Design Awards, the most prestigious worldwide competition celebrating the year's best in design. There were 274 winners from 28 countries who emerged from a competitive pool of almost 4,000 submissions.
Leo Burnett/Chicago secured highest honors by winning Best of Show for its work, "Recipeace," for Peace One Day in One Show Design's "Design for the Greater Good" category. Recipeace was a social movement that brought people together over food. The intent was to build awareness for Peace Day on a global scale, while inspiring peaceful action on an individual level. Fifty-nine restaurants in the greater Chicago area participated.
Overall, there were 25 Gold Pencil winners, 27 Silver Pencil winners, 25 Bronze Pencil winners and 197 Merit winners who were honored today at the IAC building, itself an achievement in architectural design in lower Manhattan.
"The world beyond the design industry is beginning to understand something that most within the industry have known for decades: Design is more than the craft, form and function," said Seth Callaway, Producer for One Show Design. "Design is about ideas and applying the thought process of a designer at the outset of a creative solution, which is clearly evident in the work of this year's winners."
Among the most highly awarded agencies of One Show Design 2013 are Kolle Rebbe/Hamburg, Serviceplan/Munich, Ogilvy/New York, Bear Meets Eagle on Fire/Sydney and Family Business/Stockholm. Their award-winning work includes "Meltdown" for Gruner + Jahr, "LEGO Builders of Sound" for LEGO, "Icons of Progress" for IBM, "Smile Makers Vibrators" for Ramblin' Brands and "Absolut Unique" for The Absolut Company.
