HOLLAND, Ohio, Oct. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Dreamscape Media announced the October 1, 2018 release of ONE OCTOBER, a feature documentary by filmmaker Charlie Minn that investigates the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas. Through interviews with survivors, reenactments, and never-before-seen footage, Minn explores the horrific event as it unfolded and pursues answers to questions that remain a year later. Dreamscape produced the documentary with Mr. Minn, a leading documentarian on U.S. mass shootings.
"We made ONE OCTOBER to ensure this act and those lost are never forgotten," said Minn. "Many of these survivors and families of the victims still have questions about what happened that night. They deserve answers. It's worth sharing what we've learned from this appalling tragedy so that attacks like this can be prevented."
By carefully reconstructing the events of October 1, 2017, interviewing witnesses and law enforcement officers, and studying footage taken from multiple views, Minn tests the official statements and theories about the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, which claimed 59 lives and injured more than 500 others.
ONE OCTOBER digs into the confusion on the ground, the panic at the venue, and the length of time it took to storm the shooter's room. The film includes rare footage from the roof of the hotel—near the shooter's perch—the night of the shooting.
"We are not interested in the shooter's story," said Minn. "He was a coward. We do not say his name. This film is about those who lost their lives and the lives that were changed that night."
Mr. Minn has made 25 films and has invested most of his filmmaking career studying U.S. mass shootings. His films include 49 PULSES (the 2016 Orlando nightclub shooting), BULLETS AT THE BORDER (three shootings at the U.S.-Mexico border), and 77 MINUTES (the 1984 McDonald's massacre). His next documentary, PARKLAND: INSIDE BUILDING 12, also produced by Dreamscape, investigates the 2018 Parkland high school shooting tragedy.
"Dreamscape is committed to producing important work and collaborating with independent filmmakers like Charlie Minn to spotlight issues and reach a wide audience," said Dreamscape Media publisher and ONE OCTOBER executive producer Tammy Faxel.
ONE OCTOBER (run time 1 hr: 35 minutes) will be available on hoopla digital, iTunes, Google Play, and On Demand.
