One Concern Expands AI Disaster Platform with Launch of Predictive Flood Solution
Flood Concern Predicts Hyperlocal Level of Inundation Up to Five Days in Advance
PALO ALTO, Calif., Nov. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- One Concern, a Palo Alto-based benevolent artificial intelligence company with a mission to save lives and livelihoods before, during, and after disasters, today announced the launch of its Flood Concern solution. Representing a significant expansion of the company's holistic, AI-powered resilience platform, Flood Concern empowers leaders in both the public and private sector with dynamic, hyperlocal predictions. Through the combination of hydrological and hydrodynamic models, along with machine learning, Flood Concern predicts inundation and impact levels up to five days in advance, allowing leaders to better prepare for, respond to, recover from and mitigate the impact of severe riverine flooding.
Commenting on the launch, One Concern CEO and Co-Founder, Ahmad Wani, explained, "Unfortunately the impact of climate change-fueled disasters, such as floods, is increasing. Having survived a devastating flood in my native Kashmir, I know firsthand the pain and hardship that millions of people from Houston to Hiroshima and from North Carolina to Kerala are still feeling. With the launch of our Flood Concern product, I am excited that One Concern will be able to provide hyperlocal predictive insights that can help leaders across the country and world save lives and livelihoods when severe flooding occurs."
"In order to realize our vision of planetary scale resilience, it is critically important that we harness the power of our technology for all hazards. Our Flood Concern product is a major step in the expansion of our multi-hazard, AI-powered platform and is an important milestone for our company," said One Concern CTO and Co-Founder Nicole Hu. "I am so proud of our incredible team of data scientists, engineers, hazard experts and designers, who brought this product to life and I look forward to working with our customers to make them safer from the threat of flooding."
Key features of Flood Concern include:
- Dynamic map-based visualization of predicted impact zone up to five days in advance

- Automatic asset impact assessment
