NEW YORK, March 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- OnDeck (www.ondeck.com), the technology-powered Main Street lender, announced today the addition of Pamela Rice in the key position of Senior Vice President of Technology. Rice joins OnDeck from PayPal and arrives during the company's fast-growth phase highlighted by a 150 percent revenue surge and nearly $1 billion in capital delivered to Main Street businesses. She will oversee application and core engineering, platform operations and corporate IT, and will report directly to CEO Noah Breslow.
Rice's approach to technology leadership combines developing innovative solutions with scalable processes while building high performing teams. At OnDeck she will harness her extensive expertise in building disruptive credit technology solutions to drive the expansion of the company's engineering team and enable OnDeck's product and market growth initiatives.
"Pamela has the leadership experience and proven track record in transitioning fast-growing companies to full-scale enterprises, which is exactly what we need as we take our business to the next level," said Noah Breslow, chief executive officer, OnDeck. "Our recent funding round, coupled with Pamela's hiring, will allow us to aggressively grow our technology team over the coming months to further expand our small business lending products and market reach."
"OnDeck has leveraged its technology to lead the disruption in the small business lending industry," said Pamela Rice, senior vice president of technology, OnDeck. "I am excited to join the team during this high growth period and look forward to scaling the company's innovative systems, expanding the team and advancing our operational excellence."
Most recently, Rice led Global Credit Technology for PayPal where she advanced its credit platforms across multi-channel, multi-market products while increasing uptime by over 40 percent and leading a distributed team of over 100 engineers. She also oversaw PayPal's U.S. Credit Technology, and helped deliver the first PayPal credit product in the European Union. Prior to PayPal, Rice was an early employee and engineering leader at Bill Me Later, where she built many of its original credit systems. PayPal/eBay eventually acquired Bill Me Later in 2008 in one of the most successful financial technology startup acquisitions of all time. Earlier in her career, Rice spent five years as a lead software engineer at UPS.
Rice co-founded eBay Women in Technology (eWIT) in Maryland and is a contributing member of Grace Hopper Celebrations of Women in Computing. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Hawaii, a master's degree from John Hopkins in Information Systems, and an executive MBA from Loyola University.
