Oncor Named A Top Ten Utility In North America

DALLAS, March 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Greentech Media named Oncor a Top Ten Utility in North America this week, marking the second year in a row the company has proudly earned this honor.

Oncor's award highlighted the company's outage detection and restoration efforts, a direct result of the technology investments Oncor has embraced over the last few years.  More than 3.2 million advanced meters are now deployed through the Oncor service territory, completing the rollout of Oncor's advanced metering system. The nomination showcased Oncor's ability to integrate this advanced meter system with an outage management system that provides customer and process benefits. Because of AMS/OMS integration, Oncor is often times able to detect and restore outages before the customer is even aware power had been lost. In addition to faster power restoration after an outage event, Oncor's use of AMS data also often allows the company to detect and address issues before they create outages.

The awards recognize the top ten North American power utilities for their smart grid deployment programs. Utilities were nominated both internally by utility employees as well as by vendors currently working in collaboration with utilities. Greentech Media Research Smart Grid analysts selected the final award recipients.
