Once Again, Qorvis Shares Inaugural Expertise
Firm's Chuck Conconi and Kevin Chaffee Highlight the DC Scene
WASHINGTON, Jan. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kevin Chaffee and Chuck Conconi, both of Qorvis Communications, recently shared their expertise on inaugural balls.
Chaffee, a consultant for Qorvis, was quoted by the New York Times in a guide to this weekend's best inaugural parties.
Chaffee stated: "The official balls are for people coming from out of town. Visitors have to go home and say they attended one, but old Washington hands know to go to the smaller parties that will be well done."
On the latest episode of Focus Washington—a D.C.-focused interview web series—Conconi discussed the societal scene of the inauguration. He encourages everyone to attend an official inaugural ball at least once, if for nothing else but bragging rights. But as for the best inaugural experience, Conconi agrees with Chaffee that the unofficial parties are more fun.
"The events that are often much more fun are the state society events, … [as] they're quite elegant. … Your chances of seeing major political figures from your state are pretty good there. The big balls, you're not likely to see many congressmen or senators wandering through the crowd."
For the first Inauguration of President Barack Obama, Qorvis designed and created a mobile app for iPhone, Blackberry and Android--the "Navigating Washington" app--which provided attendees with valuable information about where to go, what to do, and how best to experience this momentous historical event. The Qorvis app won a 2009 Webby Award for Best Mobile Application in the "Listings and Updates" category, was named New York Times "App of the Week" and the DC government recommended it on its website as an essential guide.
