On Your Mark, Get Set, Race Across America Powered By Trane
TYLER, Texas, June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Trane, a leading global provider of indoor comfort solutions and services and brand of Ingersoll Rand (NYSE: IR), kicks off the 2013 Race Across America (RAAM) Powered by Trane on June 11, 2013, in Oceanside, Calif. RAAM is the world's toughest and longest-running cycling race.
In celebration of its 100th anniversary, Trane conducted a national search for an unstoppable cycling duo that best represented the Trane brand. Candidates submitted an audition video and resumes explaining why they deserved the internship; the entries were judged based on creativity, originality, experience and poise.
Alison Burdick-Evenson and Tori Prager, both college students, won the national competition and earned a spot on the Trane Endurance Team. They will hit the road for the 3,000-mile journey and serve as the Trane brand ambassadors during the race.
Over the course of two weeks, Burdick-Evenson and Prager will travel from coast to coast alongside hundreds of professional and amateur cyclists in this year's RAAM. Along the way, the Trane duo will be stopping in Oceanside, Calif.; Congress, Ariz.; Phoenix; Albuquerque; Durango, Colo.; Ulysses, Kan.; Wichita, Kan.; Kansas City, Mo.; St. Louis; Bloomington, Ind.; Oxford, Ohio; Blanchester, Ohio; Mt. Airy, Md.; and Annapolis, Md., to bring the Trane brand to life for consumers along the race route.
The Trane Endurance Team will distribute Trane gear, enter race fans for opportunities to win prizes, and share energy-saving tips as the summer season heats up. In addition, they will partner with Trane dealers and distributors to provide local consumer offers and promotions. Throughout the race, the Team will share interesting stories, photos and videos of their trip at Facebook.com/Trane.
"It's Hard To Stop A Trane. This is more than just a tagline—we live it every day. The same is true for the cyclists competing in the Race Across America, who are just as hard to stop," said Scott Martin, vice president of marketing for Ingersoll Rand. "We are excited to travel alongside the race course, providing on-the-ground support and encouragement to the athletes and interacting with thousands of fans and spectators."
RAAM and Trane fans have a chance to win a series of fun Trane prizes by entering the "100 Years, 100 Prizes" sweepstakes on Facebook.com/Trane. Throughout the program, Trane will give away 100 prizes, including t-shirts, race gear and Trane-branded products. At the end of the race, Trane will name one lucky fan the grand prize winner of a free Trane ComfortLinkTM II Control, a high-definition, touch-screen programmable control that can provide homeowners remote access to their home's heating and cooling comfort, live weather forecast updates and more.
