SAN FRANCISCO, April 1, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- On Lok, a pioneer and world leader in Programs for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE), today announced the appointment of Grace Li as Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2016. In her new role, Li will be responsible for the overall management of each of the On Lok corporations, and will report to the board of directors. She is replacing Robert Edmondson, who recently announced his retirement after leading On Lok for over a decade.
"Following an intensive and thorough vetting process of over ten weeks, the On Lok Board of Directors is delighted that Grace Li has accepted the position of Chief Executive Officer," said Wellman Tsang, M.D., chair of On Lok's Board of Directors. "At On Lok, we believe in rewarding excellence, and Grace has more than proven her strong leadership capabilities, both internally with strong skills in strategic management and administration, and externally promoting relationships that provide for the continued success of On Lok in senior care. We were fortunate that an internal candidate with a history at the organization possessed all of the skills required to excel in this position, and are confident that Ms. Li is the right choice to fill On Lok's highest position of leadership. "
Li brings nearly 25 years of operations management experience in a broad range of health care settings and 15 years of executive leadership responsibility. "Grace's passion for our mission and her deep understanding of On Lok and its roots and goals make her an excellent choice to be our fourth CEO in 45 years," said Robert Edmondson, former On Lok chief executive officer. "I have been privileged to serve as CEO for almost eleven years and enjoyed the support of the community leaders who serve on our Board of Directors as we move into new areas and continue our innovations in care for seniors. On Lok is in excellent hands with a strong leader at the helm."
Li previously served as chief operating officer for the On Lok Lifeways organization and provided strategic and operational direction for the On Lok Lifeways PACE program across three counties, nearly doubling the size of the program during her tenure. She joined On Lok in 2001, bringing expertise in overseeing multi-site complex systems and health care programs, orchestrating new facility openings, and managing implementation of software applications.
Having worked in hospitals and managed large physician practices, assisted living facilities and health care consulting, Li's experience has supported the ongoing growth of the On Lok Lifeways program. She has also been responsible for the planning and development of new sites and programs, and the operations of On Lok Lifeways centers to ensure the high satisfaction rates of participants, families and employees.
"I am honored and humbled by the confidence being placed in me to lead On Lok into the next 45 years," said Grace Li, On Lok's new chief executive officer. "I am deeply passionate about this organization, and will work diligently to uphold what On Lok stands for as we continue to expand and improve the lives of more seniors throughout the Bay Area."
Li holds a master's degree in health administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Florida. Prior to On Lok, she worked at UCSF, Orlando Health Care Group and Chesapeake General Hospital. She currently serves locally on the Eden Housing, Inc. Board and NICOS Board of Directors and nationally on the National PACE Association (NPA) Board.
