DALLAS, April 25, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Omnitracs, LLC, a global pioneer of fleet management solutions to transportation and logistics companies, today announced it has donated two Mobile Computing Platform 110s (MCP 110), along with installation and training, to the College of Instrument Technology (CIT) to help prepare veterans for a career in commercial trucking. Dedicated to training former members of the armed services to secure their commercial driver's licenses and become professional truck drivers, CIT sought the contribution of Omnitracs in-cab technology, recognizing that the MCP is the most prevalently used mobile fleet management solution in the industry.
"We are proud to support CIT in its efforts to help military veterans transition to civilian careers in commercial transportation and pleased to have this opportunity to demonstrate our ongoing support for the industry-wide commitment to recognizing the contributions and skills of those who have served," stated John Graham, Omnitracs chief executive officer. "Omnitracs is pleased to help ensure that the next generation of truck drivers is not only well equipped to secure their CDL, but also has an understanding of today's leading technology, making them more marketable among the best fleets in the country."
In addition to installing complimentary MCP 110s in two CIT driver training trucks, Omnitracs will provide ongoing education and support to CIT instructors and other personnel on a pro bono basis.
"CIT is thrilled to have Omnitracs MCPs donated to our school, and have Omnitracs join our mission of helping veterans and dislocated workers gain employment with the latest, industry-standard equipment," noted CIT President Harold Durbin. "CIT is looking forward to taking our training to another level with the addition of Omnitracs' industry leading technology!"
For more than 30 years, CIT has taught, trained and certified veterans and dislocated workers in the trucking, heavy equipment and crane industries, maintaining a job placement rate of over 85 percent.
"When I finish training and start my job search, I'll have a leg up on the competition because I'll already have experience on the Omnitracs MCP unit, which leading trucking companies utilize on a daily basis," stated Jowie Runez, a post 9-11 veteran and current student at CIT.
