Older Pennsylvanians Reminded of Medicare Annual Enrollment Deadline, Dec. 7
HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Medicare beneficiaries in Pennsylvania are reminded that the deadline for Medicare annual open enrollment is Saturday, Dec. 7.
Older Pennsylvanians are urged to utilize the state Department of Aging's APPRISE program to determine a Medicare health plan that works for them.
"If you are on Medicare, the Dec. 7 deadline is a little more than a week away for you to make your determination for the plan of your choice," Secretary of Aging Brian Duke said. "There is still time to speak with a trained APPRISE counselor who can provide information in clear terms and help you compare health insurance plans to find one that suits your needs."
APPRISE is a free health insurance counseling program designed to assist older Pennsylvanians with answers to questions about Medicare. The program provides objective, easy-to-understand information about Medicare, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Medicaid, and long-term care insurance. Pennsylvania has nearly 600 trained APPRISE volunteers.
APPRISE volunteers work through local Area Agencies on Aging to address questions and concerns.
To talk with an APPRISE counselor near you, visit www.aging.state.pa.us or contact APPRISE, toll-free, at 1-800-783-7067.
The Medicare enrollment period is for Medicare beneficiaries only and is not related to the enrollment period for the federally facilitated marketplace.
