Olayan Kimberly-Clark Expands Investment in Bahrain with New $50 Million Kleenex Tissue Plant
MANAMA, Bahrain, Oct. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Kimberly-Clark—maker of Kleenex, Huggies and Cottonelle products—recently opened a new $50 million Kleenex tissue production plant at the Olayan Kimberly-Clark mill in Askar, Bahrain.
"I believe that congratulations are in order, not only for the completion of the new facility, but also for their foresight in choosing Bahrain as the site for their new investment," Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Fakhro said at the opening event.
The facility will produce 31,000 tons of Kleenex tissues and other products for Olayan Kimberly-Clark, which holds 23 percent of the GCC market share. This plant, along with facility upgrades in Saudi Arabia, will triple the company's production capability.
Dr. Fakhro stated his belief that the investment demonstrates the strength and stability of the Bahraini market.
"Bahrain is very much back in business, and both investors and consumers are proving this with their confidence," he said. "Investors are more than ever encouraged by the opportunities that continue to unfold in the region."
