OhioLINK Expands Relationship with Preferred Partner Thomson Reuters
Decision to Renew Web of Science Came After Rigorous Evaluation of Competing Products
PHILADELPHIA, and LONDON, March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomson Reuters today announced that OhioLINK, a long time partner and the first Web of Science(SM) customer, has renewed its subscription for the 14th year in a row. The decision to renew came after a review team of subject and usability specialists reported a clear preference for Web of Science compared to similar databases.
OhioLINK is a consortium of 88 Ohio college and university libraries and the State Library of Ohio.
"This renewal is of particular importance to us as the decision came from the end-user community and illustrates the industry's confidence in our products and services," said Keith MacGregor, Executive Vice President at Thomson Reuters. "We strive to provide a high quality solution that is easy to use. We are proud that our first customer continues to choose Thomson Reuters trusted content over the competition time and again."
In addition to renewing Web of Science, OhioLINK added new content to its portfolio of Thomson Reuters products including Derwent Innovations Index, JCR Web and the Conference Proceedings Citation Index for Science and Social Science & Humanities. These products, all part of the Web of Knowledge(SM) solution, enable users to search the right content and find relevant information within one integrated, versatile and easy-to-use system.
Said Karen Oye, Head of Customer Services and Business Librarian at Case Western Reserve University: "Faculty and students alike know that Web of Science is critical to their productivity and always has been considered the gold standard for citation searching."
"Web of Science is the ideal multi-discipline source for a liberal arts curriculum, with unequaled breadth and depth of subject coverage and citation indexing," said Alison Ricker, science librarian at Oberlin College. "It is both a critical teaching tool as well as indispensable component of advanced research. Students and faculty throughout the college benefit greatly by our continued subscription."
