Ohio Financial Expert Named Director for Midwest-based Municipal Advisor Umbaugh Columbus Office
INDIANAPOLIS, May 5, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- A long-time Columbus, Ohio area public finance professional has been named the Ohio Director for a major Midwest accounting firm. Indianapolis-based Umbaugh has named former PNC Capital Markets managing director and supervisory principal Mark A. Miller to the new position for Umbaugh's Columbus, Ohio office.

Miller has been a public finance professional for more than 25 years serving state treasurers, state agencies, counties, cities, colleges and universities, school districts, convention centers and airports.
Umbaugh advises cities, towns, townships, counties, utilities, schools, libraries, hospitals and airports regarding financing, long-range planning, tax and utility rates, budgets, debt management, revenue forecasts, economic development and financial management.
Over the years, Miller has managed bond financings for many of Ohio's largest and most prolific issuers and for issuers in Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Kentucky.
In May, 2015, Brian Cooper joined Umbaugh in Columbus with the merger of ACI Advisors. Jim Hargrove joined in September with the merger of Prism Municipal Advisors. Megan Kilgore, former Assistant Auditor and Debt Manager for the City of Columbus, joined the Umbaugh team in October, 2015. All now operate under the Umbaugh name.

Miller has presented a variety of courses for the Ohio Treasurer of State's Center for Public Investment Management Program. He served as an adjunct professor at Bowling Green State University and has been a guest lecturer at the Pennsylvania State University.
Miller is a graduate of the 1994 class of Leadership Columbus. He is a trustee for the Ohio Municipal Advisory Council and the First Church of God.
For 2015, Umbaugh ranked sixth in the nation based on the total number of bond issues, which is up from 11th in 2014, and fourth in the nation for the number of "small" municipal bonds. The ranking is according to Thomson Reuters which considers a small bond to be an issue of $10 million or less.
Umbaugh was founded more than 65 years ago and has offices in Indianapolis, Mishawaka, Ind. and Lansing, Mich. in addition to the Columbus office.
