Ogilvy Washington Hires Tony Silva to Lead Social Marketing Practice
WASHINGTON, June 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ogilvy Washington, an integrated, global communications firm, announced today a significant senior hire to the Social Marketing practice. Tony Silva joined Ogilvy Washington as Executive Vice President and Group Director. Silva replaces Jennifer Wayman after her promotion to Managing Director, U.S. Social Marketing Practice.
"Tony is an accomplished social marketer and a skilled leader," said Robert Mathias, CEO of North America. "His expertise in sustainability communications and behavior change related to energy, environment and health augments an already incredibly talented social marketing team. We are happy to have him join Ogilvy Washington."
Prior to joining Ogilvy, Silva spent more than a decade at ICF International, most recently as a Senior Vice President. During his career, his accomplishments include leading a complex, public diplomacy program launch on behalf of the U.S. Department of State entitled "The U.S.-Middle East Partnership for Breast Cancer Awareness and Research," which included coordination with and participation of the First Lady of the United States and foreign dignitaries and the development of partnerships among the private sector, international governments and NGOs. Other clients include the Water Research Foundation, Baltimore Gas & Electric Company, We Energies, DOE, and the EPA.
"Our commitment to expanding the breadth and depth of our social marketing offering is reinforced with Tony's background and experience," said Jennifer Wayman, Managing Director, U.S. Social Marketing Practice. "We are looking forward to him joining the team."
"I am thrilled to work with some of the best social marketing communications professionals in the business," Silva said. "There is an incredible opportunity to help deepen Ogilvy's communications portfolio with various federal government agencies as well as expand social marketing and behavior change clients in the private sector, especially within the sustainability and energy sectors. I cannot wait to lead the team into this exciting new era."
Silva holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from New Mexico State University and a master's degree in International Communication from The American University, School of International Service. Silva is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, the Association of Energy Service Professionals, and served on the Board of Directors for the American Solar Energy Society.
