Ogilvy PR Promotes Jennifer Risi to Managing Director, Ogilvy Media Influence
Risi to Lead and Expand North American Media Relations Offering
NEW YORK, Jan. 31, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ogilvy Public Relations (Ogilvy PR), an integrated global communications firm, today announced that Jennifer Risi, Executive Vice President, Ogilvy Media Influence and Director, Content Creation, has been promoted to Managing Director, Ogilvy Media Influence and Head of North American Media Relations effective immediately.
In her new role, Risi will work closely with all North American Office Heads to deepen the operational excellence of Ogilvy's media network and to enhance the resources available to clients at the local and national levels. Risi will continue to lead a specialist group providing high-level global media counsel and strategic direction to some of Ogilvy's largest national and global clients. She will also collaborate with Ogilvy & Mather's marketing disciplines to identify and support media, content and business development opportunities.
"Media relations is at the heart of our business. It plays a central role in almost all of our client relationships," said Robert Mathias, Ogilvy PR's North America CEO. "Jennifer is an expert at what she does. She is smart, strategic and she gets results."
Risi joined Ogilvy PR in 2011, and for the past three years, has built a robust media relations expertise and New York-based team that supports clients across the agency's diverse practices with a range of services including global media strategy, CEO and executive visibility, nation branding, and issues management.
In 2013, Risi expanded the Media Influence team in North America, bringing together key agency staff members across the agency's regional offices to form a community of experts skilled at providing strategic media relations counsel to clients. Additionally, the team established ongoing events in New York that recently launched in other US cities: MediaXchange, external media networking gatherings, and PitchXchange, internal monthly media coaching sessions that support each of the practices across the offices.
"In this era of rapid change for the public relations industry, understanding and navigating the media is crucial to our clients in reaching their business goals," said Risi. "I'm eager to continue expanding the Media Influence team and tap into Ogilvy's global network to utilize key resources across the US and abroad to better serve our clients."
Prior to joining Ogilvy PR, Risi spent 12 years at Weber Shandwick, most recently as an Executive Vice President. She co-founded the agency's Global Strategic Media Group, establishing a worldwide network of media resources and created VOICEBOXX, a platform for securing global, national and regional speaking opportunities.
