SINALOA, Mexico, Jan. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- With regard to the tragic incident involving Canadian, Sheila Nabb at a hotel in Mazatlan last weekend, the State of Sinaloa Government would like to make the following update:
- Sheila Nabb has awoken from a medically induced coma and it appears that there are no signs of brain damage.
- Mrs. Nabb has opted to remain in Mazatlan for the short term and will continue to receive treatment from there.
- There is a full investigation taking place under the direction of the State Attorney General's Office.
- The State of Sinaloa Government is collaborating with Canadian authorities in keeping them informed of all advances in the investigation.
- The Governor and Secretary of Tourism of Sinaloa as well as local government officials from Mazatlan are in close contact with Mrs. Nabb and her family, visiting them in hospital regularly.
- The Government of Sinaloa and of Mazatlan continue to provide Mrs. Nabb and her family with support.
The Government reiterates that safety and security are top priorities for tourists and citizens alike and that this was an unfortunate and isolated event.
Hotels and resorts across Mexico adhere to the strictest of security standards which allow only guests to egress.
Any further developments in the investigation will be informed as they become available.
