Official Statement From Mexico City's Government About Tatiana Mirutenko's Case

MEXICO CITY, July 12, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The government of Mexico, Mexico City's Mayor and the Ministry of Tourism are deeply saddened by the death of Tatiana Mirutenko, an American visitor. 

Our most sincere condolences go out to her family and friends, and our hearts remain with them during this difficult time.

Mexico City authorities including the Attorney General's office are conducting a thorough investigation into this incident, and have been coordinating throughout with the United States Embassy. Every effort is being made to resolve this case and maintain the safety of the millions of international travelers who visit Mexico City each year. Visitor safety is of the highest importance and the government has three separate, specialized agencies to assist visitors and maintain visitor security in the city.
