Official Payments Now Offers More Payment Options Than Any Other Electronic Payments Provider
RESTON, Va., March 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Official Payments Corp. has recently expanded its roster of payment partners to offer a total of eleven payment options for taxpayers, the most in the federal payments industry. The full array of payment options now includes American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa cards, debit cards participating in the NYCE, PULSE, STAR and ACCEL payment networks, and Bill Me Later.
"More options mean more convenience for our customers," said Alex P. Hart, President and CEO of Tier Technologies, Inc., the parent company of Official Payments. "People can use the payment method that works best for them, whether their goals are cash management, maximizing rewards, simple convenience or all three." Eligible American Express® Cardmembers with an enrolled American Express Card can use Membership Rewards® points towards both taxes and convenience fees. Plus, American Express Cardmembers making payments of $100,000 or more are entitled to a special low convenience fee.
All eleven options are available on the company's newly enhanced federal tax website, accessible at https://www.officialpayments.com/fed . The site provides quick access and easy navigation for those making payments associated with frequently used forms for both personal and business taxes, including, but not limited, to Forms 1040, 1040 ES, 4868, 940 and 941.
The new site is live and ready to process payments for the 2010 tax year, which are due this year by April 18. The date has been extended three days for all U.S. taxpayers because Emancipation Day, a legal holiday in the District of Columbia, falls on April 15 this year.
The first electronic payment provider to be selected by the IRS, Official Payments has been processing federal tax payments since 1999, longer than any other provider.
