Office of the Comptroller of the Currency Hosts Ohio Workshop for New and Experienced Bank Directors
WASHINGTON, June 18, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency will host a workshop in Columbus, Ohio, at the Sheraton Columbus Hotel at Capitol Square, July 28-30, for directors of national community banks and federal savings associations.
"Mastering the Basics: A Director's Challenge" is a three-day workshop designed exclusively for directors of institutions supervised by the OCC and provides practical information on the roles and responsibilities of a community bank director.
"Directors are integral to a bank's success," said Dixie Claybrook, Assistant Deputy Comptroller in the Salt Lake City office. "The workshop provides a strong curriculum in what directors need to expect from and ask of their management teams."
Taught by seasoned OCC supervision staff, the workshop also covers the regulatory environment, board reports, bank ratings, and resources available exclusively for OCC-regulated institutions.
"We discuss new and emerging risks, such as information security and vendor risk management, and our expectations on how to manage them," Claybrook said. "We also emphasize the resources and tools available on BankNet, an OCC website with tools, applications, services, and information that is useful to bankers and directors in meeting their regulatory information needs and regulatory responsibilities."
The workshop fee is $99. Participants receive a pre-workshop reading package and course materials, assorted supervisory publications, and a Dictionary of Banking Terms. The workshop is limited to the first 35 registrants.
The workshop is one of 35 being offered nationwide to enhance and expand the skills of national community bank and federal savings association directors.
