WASHINGTON, May 25, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being released by the DOJ Office of Justice Programs:

New Analysis Shows Reentry Programs Can Decrease Recidivism – The National Institute of Justice recently released the publication, Prisoner Reentry Services: What Worked for Serious and Violent Offender Reentry Initiative (SVORI) Evaluation Participants.  SVORI is a federal initiative that funds locally-designed juvenile and adult reentry programs throughout the United States.  Reentry programming and services are designed to facilitate offenders' transition from prison, with the ultimate goal of reducing recidivism.  The report examined existing reentry programs and found that participation in SVORI programs resulted in fewer arrests.  Participation was also associated with a $3,567 per inmate reduction in arrest-related costs for adult males. https://www.ncjrs.gov/pdffiles1/nij/grants/238214.pdf
