Office of Administration: Pennsylvania Justice Network Named Finalist for Intergovernmental Solutions Award
HARRISBURG, Pa., April 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Pennsylvania Justice Network, or JNET, is among the finalists for this year's Intergovernmental Solutions Award from the American Council for Technology.
JNET provides more than 36,000 public safety and criminal justice professionals with access to critical data from a wide array of municipal, county, state and federal agencies. Nearly 2.5 million photo searches were conducted using JNET last year alone.
"The JNET project helps ensure that our public safety and judicial professionals have access to the best, most up-to-date information available," said Brenda Orth, Pennsylvania's Chief Information Officer. "Data provided by JNET helps keep dangerous and wanted criminals off our streets."
In June 2009, JNET launched a new federated photo search, allowing users to quickly and easily access background data and photographs from a variety of sources in a fast, single query. Previously, users had to conduct inquiries using multiple applications in order to obtain the same information. In addition, results are available up to three times faster than before.
The Intergovernmental Solutions Award recognizes information technology projects that demonstrate collaboration between two or more government agencies and innovative use of technology to improve service delivery. Award winners will be announced May 24 at the ACT Management of Change conference in Philadelphia.
