Ocwen and NAACP to Host Hope & Help for Homeowners Borrower Outreach Event in Delray Beach, FL
June 4th event will offer struggling borrowers the opportunity to explore loan modification options
DELRAY BEACH, Fla., May 31, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Florida State Conference of NAACP Branches, along with Ocwen Financial Corporation, a leading financial services holding company, announced today that their first Help & Hope for Homeowners event in 2016 will be held on Saturday, June 4 in Delray Beach, Florida. The event will offer borrowers in Palm Beach County and the surrounding areas the opportunity to meet with Ocwen Home Retention Agents and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)-approved financial counselors to explore loan modifications and other options to make their homes more affordable.
This event for Ocwen customers follows four successful events held in 2015 where approximately 800 borrowers sought help, with many attendees receiving a loan modification as a result of the guidance they received at Help & Hope for Homeowners.
Foreclosures continue to impact residents of Palm Beach County, as well as borrowers throughout Florida. According to RealtyTrac, which monitors foreclosure trends, one out of every 727 homes in Florida is in foreclosure, compared to the national average of one in every 1,212 homes. While foreclosures are decreasing across the state overall, many Floridians are still struggling to make their mortgage payments.
"Many Florida homeowners continue to struggle to afford their homes and are facing the harsh reality of foreclosure." said Torey Alston, Florida State Economic Chair of the NAACP. "Through the Help & Hope for Homeowners event series, the NAACP and Ocwen realize a common goal of helping borrowers find solutions to a major problem impacting families and communities. The Florida State Conference, a branch of the NAACP, is committed to working with Ocwen as a trusted partner to help borrowers receive in-person, individualized guidance on their mortgage so they understand what options are available to help them remain in their homes."
"The Help & Hope for Homeowners borrower outreach events deliver real results to homeowners across the country," said Jill Showell, Senior Vice President of Government and Community Relations at Ocwen. "Ocwen is a leader in foreclosure prevention, having granted more than 627,000 sustainable loan modifications and about $13 billion in principal reductions. We care about homeowners and, together with the NAACP, we are able to help borrowers, in their local communities, get the help they need to better afford and remain in their homes."
The Help & Hope for Homeowners event will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Pompey Park Recreation Center, located at 1101 NW 2nd Street, Delray Beach, FL 33444. Admission and parking are free for all attendees. Homeowners whose loans are serviced by Ocwen are encouraged to attend this event to meet with Ocwen Home Retention Agents and HUD-approved housing counselors.
