Oct. 22 is 'Great Pumpkin Day' at State Museum of Pennsylvania
HARRISBURG, Pa., Oct. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The State Museum of Pennsylvania will celebrate the harvest season with fun daytime family activities during Great Pumpkin Day on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Young children and their parents will enjoy a prehistoric scavenger hunt exploring the "Life Through Time" paleontology exhibit, Halloween cartoons, games, snacks and crafts.
"We've chosen a prehistoric theme for this year's Great Pumpkin Day," says State Museum Director David Dunn. "This has been a banner year for The State Museum with the opening of our new paleo gallery featuring the Marshalls Creek mastodon and the worldwide announcement of a dinosaur discovery made in our own 'Dino Lab.' We encourage our guests to dress 'prehistoric' and join in the fun."
Great Pumpkin Day activities are free with museum general admission. State Museum affiliate members of the Pennsylvania Heritage Society receive free general admission and 10 percent off purchases at the new State Museum Store.
