Oceans Healthcare CEO Stuart Archer Joins National Advocacy Organization's Board of Trustees
PLANO, Texas, March 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems today announced Stuart Archer, CEO of Oceans Healthcare, a behavioral health provider focused primarily on older adults and seniors, has been appointed to the organization's Board of Trustees.
Archer has led Oceans Healthcare since 2014. A skilled executive with extensive expertise in multi-state and multi-site hospital operations, he brings more than a decade of healthcare experience to his appointment. Oceans was born out of desire to address a need regarding the lack of behavioral health services for older adults and seniors. Under Archer's leadership, Oceans and its 17 affiliated hospitals have expanded inpatient and outpatient services to reach communities across Louisiana and Texas.
"Mental and addictive disorders affect millions of Americans of all ages, and the NAPHS Board of Trustees is committed to advocating for the resources that are necessary to make a difference in people's lives," said NAPHS President and CEO Mark Covall. "We are pleased that Stuart will bring his expertise and experience to the policy deliberations and advocacy of the board."
The association advocates for behavioral health and represents provider systems that are committed to the delivery of responsive, accountable and clinically effective prevention, treatment and care for children, adolescents, adults and older adults with mental and substance use disorders.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for governance of the national advocacy organization. The leadership group is committed to working to ensure public policies, laws and regulations that support the needs of people who live with mental and addictive disorders. Board members represent the great diversity of the membership, which includes organizations that serve individuals of all ages and with all types of disorders.
The association concentrates on three key areas: strengthening advocacy for behavioral health; collecting and disseminating information to help members anticipate, understand and manage change; and encouraging networking and strategic alliances.
"I'm proud Oceans is a member of the association and look forward to the opportunity to personally contribute to an organization I respect immensely and that has advocated for the underserved for so long," Archer said. "I'm honored to be joining the board and look forward to the work we can do together to improve access to behavioral treatment."
