Ocasio-Cortez's 'Green New Deal' Is a Green Disaster, States Physicians for Civil Defense
TUCSON, Ariz., Feb. 5, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- A would-be savior is striding onto the stage at the time of the State of the Union to announce a plan to rescue the world from certain climate doom in 12 years. Young, hip, Hispanic, proud former bartender Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ("AOC") (D-N.Y.) is seeking sponsors for World War II-level mobilization, and to raise awareness, Varshini Prakash, founder of the Sunrise Movement, will be a guest at the SOTU address. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) have tentatively endorsed the plan.
Details are sketchy, but suggestions include:
- using eminent domain to seize plants closed by companies like General Motors
- using government to "take control" of corporate production capacity
- eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing and agriculture
- "dramatically" expanding energy sources to meet 100 percent of power demand through renewable sources.
"'Green' apparently means wind and solar, which are neither clean, green, nor safe," states Physicians for Civil Defense president Jane Orient, M.D. "Why aren't the carbon-based fuels that supply 80 percent of the world's energy considered 'green'? The carbon dioxide they release is essential for life and is measurably greening the earth."
"There is no way to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing and agriculture without eliminating manufacturing and agriculture," she added.
"Without reliable, affordable electricity and fuel—not possible with wind and solar, industrial civilization cannot survive. And without industrial civilization, AOC's constituents in the Bronx could not live."
According to Al Gore and other global warming (now known as climate change) zealots, the climate apocalypse has been imminent for 40 years, but keeps getting postponed, allowing us more time to adopt global socialism with energy rationing—the real object.
"The Green New Deal would be a multi-trillion-dollar disaster—and would have a negligible effect on the climate," Dr Orient concluded.
