LONDON, May 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
OBN - the membership organisation supporting the UK's emerging life sciences companies - today unveils its new corporate identity. As a result of geographical expansion, OBN has dropped its former name 'Oxfordshire Bioscience Network' and from now on will be known as 'OBN'. Likewise, the company name has been changed to 'OBN (UK) Ltd' to reflect its national focus.
"It is appropriate we announce the change in name and adoption of the BioTrinity tri-windmill device in OBN's new logo on the first day of BioTrinity. OBN's new corporate identity is reflected both in the refreshed logo for OBN as well as our flagship event, BioTrinity. BioTrinity has become Europe's leading biopartnering investment conference and this high profile event provides the ideal opportunity to launch OBN's new corporate identify. Now in its eighth year, BioTrinity 2014 will be the largest life sciences industry conference to be held on UK soil in more than five years," comments Dr Jon Rees, CEO.
OBN's logo has three blades to represent the key elements of the value chain in life sciences product development - innovative R&D companies, investors and large corporations - all of whom are reflected in our Membership.
OBN was launched in 1998 as part of Oxfordshire BioLink. Its early success in providing networking to the Oxfordshire life sciences cluster rapidly attracted Members from beyond the region. An open, inclusive and outward-looking ethos further widened participation. In response to Members' needs, OBN's strategic focus has evolved to one of supporting emerging life sciences companies by creating opportunities for high-level dialogue with potential corporate partners, investors and support organisations.
"OBN Membership has grown 50% in the last year. We're now proud to count more than 300 companies across the Golden Triangle of London, Oxford and Cambridge, and more recently companies from Nottingham, Manchester and Scotland as Members. We look forward to adding to our current suite of hot desks, real and virtual offices in Oxfordshire, London and Cambridgeshire with more virtual offices planned during Summer 2014 in Nottingham, Manchester and Scotland," said Dr Rees.
Further information about OBN's tailored networking and partnering events, purchasing consortium, advice, consultancy services and advocacy activities is available on OBN's new website http://www.obn.org.uk.
