Objet to Unveil New Advanced 3D Printing Materials for UK at PDM 2011
Now available: ABS-like material for simulating engineering plastics, clear transparent material and rigid white material for all-round application use
RHEINMUENSTER, Germany, May 18, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Objet Geometries Ltd., the innovation leader in 3D printing for rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing, is presenting the latest additions to its portfolio of prototyping materials, on stand 54 at PDM.
The new materials, commercially available as of April 13 this year, include an ABS-like Digital Material (Objet RGD5160-DM), a new clear transparent material (Objet VeroClear), and a rigid, general purpose material, Objet VeroWhitePlus, ideal for fit, form and function testing for a wide range of industries.

The Objet ABS-like is a photopolymer material that is tough and resistant to high temperatures. It enables manufacturers to employ the high accuracy and resolution of inkjet 3D printing for fit and form testing, and also simulate engineering plastics for functional testing. The ABS-like material is excellent for simulating snap-fit parts, durable and movable parts, and products requiring drop-testing."
Objet's ABS-like Digital Material (RGD5160-DM) has a high temperature resistance of 65°C straight from the printer (90°C with post-thermal treatment) and a high toughness of 65-80J/m that, according to Baker "is well suited to simulate end products made of ABS." The ABS-like material's unique properties are made possible by Objet's simultaneous multi-material jetting technology that's available on the company's Objet Connex family of 3D printers. The system allows users to create special composite Digital Materials™ – of which the new ABS-like Digital Material is just one out of 51. The system can also print a total of 65 different materials including up to 14 different materials in a single printed part. The Objet Connex350 and Objet Connex500 will be showcased at the show.
The Objet clear transparent material (Objet VeroClear) provides clear optical and visual transparency combined with great dimensional stability. It enables designers to simulate PMMA in glass-like applications such as lighting cases, lenses and cosmetics containers. The Objet VeroWhitePlus is an all-round general purpose material and is ideal for fit and form testing for a wide range of industries and for validating model design.
Also featuring at the show will be the Objet30 Desktop 3D printer. Designed for the office environment, the Objet30 provides exceptional ease of use, accuracy, affordability and uses a range of 5 printing materials – with various physical and mechanical properties.
Objet is also presenting at the co-located Product Design + Innovation conference on Thursday 19th May. Under the theme 'Objet: From Design to Reality' Zehavit Reisin, Objet's Head of Consumables Line of Business, will discuss how the versatility of Objet materials support the creative design process.
