Obituary: Maher Labib, P.E. Executive Vice President of STV
NEW YORK, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Maher Z. Labib, P.E., executive vice president and chief operating officer of STV's Buildings and Facilities Division, died May 12, 2010, at age 67.

Labib joined STV in 1996 as senior vice president and manager of the firm's New York-based Mid-Atlantic - Facilities region. He had more than 40 years of experience in marketing and managing multidisciplinary facility and building design, engineering and construction projects.
In 2006, Labib was named executive vice president of STV and director of the firm's Buildings and Facilities Division. In this capacity, he directed all of the firm's facilities programming and planning, architecture, interior design, and multidiscipline engineering, including the firm's transportation architecture, land development, oil and gas, environmental engineering, telecommunications and defense practices, as well as education, laboratory, industrial, institutional and commercial facilities.
A registered professional engineer, Labib received a bachelor of science in civil engineering and an advanced degree in structural engineering from Cairo University, Egypt. He earned a masters degree in civil engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York. He was active in numerous professional associations, including American Society of Civil Engineers, Society of American Military Engineers, New York Building Congress, Construction Management Association, American Public Transit Association, and American Correctional Association.
Labib resided in the Village of Laurel Hollow at Oyster Bay, Long Island, NY. He is survived by his wife, Viola; son Mark and his wife, Nicole; daughter Kristy; and grandchildren, Zackary and Luke.
