Obama's Jobs Plan Will Get Americans Back to Work
Infrastructure investments, job creation vital to America's economic future
WASHINGTON, Sept. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- American Federation of Government Employees National President John Gage today issued the following statement in response to President Obama's Joint Address to Congress on his proposed jobs plan:
"President Obama has laid out a sound strategy to get millions of Americans back to work. His jobs plan would jumpstart the economy by investing in roads and infrastructure projects, putting cops back on the beat and returning teachers to the classroom, and extending financial and education support to unemployed workers so they can get back on their feet.
"For months, I have been saying that we have a jobs crisis, not a debt crisis. Congress needs to set aside the partisan bickering and pass this jobs bill now."
The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is the largest federal employee union, representing 625,000 workers in the federal government and the government of the District of Columbia.
