NYU Student Newspaper Selects Conversation to Redesign News Website
Marketing agency is helping to bring new features to Washington Square News site
NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Washington Square News, New York University's daily student newspaper, has tapped Manhattan-based marketing agency Conversation to assist in the design and development of its Washington Square News website. The first phase of the process was launched on August 25, revealing the new look, feel and functionality of the site, which includes several innovative features.
"We're very excited to have established a working relationship with one of the most prestigious schools in the country," said Frank O'Brien, Founder of Conversation. "Washington Square News is an exceptional publication and our job is to create and maintain a website that complements its award-winning, student-produced content."
The entirely student-run Washington Square News publication was founded in 1973 and is mainly distributed throughout Greenwich Village and the university campus itself. Conversation's involvement with the publication is spearheading an effort to rank it with professional papers, both on a local and national level. Future steps will include concentration on other pages of the site, including a multimedia page and a page that will highlight WSN's new partnership with the non-profit organization, Citizen Schools.
The relationship between the publication and the agency also marks a unique situation in which students are taking a lead on managing the project. "We're extremely grateful to have Conversation helping us as we aim to take WSN to the next level," said Amanda Randone, Editor-in-Chief at the paper and NYU junior. "New York University has produced some of the most talented writers and reporters in the world. This is a chance to showcase emerging talent by having a professional-looking website to display work and extend readership into the digital space."
