NEW YORK, Jan. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Infor, a leading provider of industry-specific cloud applications, today announced that Nutreco, a global leader in animal nutrition and aquafeed, has selected Infor CloudSuite Food & Beverage to support a transformation project focused on preparing for the digital future. Besides the provision of animal and aquafeed, Nutreco delivers holistic nutrition and animal healthcare services to farmers to help them optimize yield and meet global demand for meat and fish.
After more than 80 years in the animal feed business, Nutreco has developed in-depth knowledge and experience of the nutritional and health needs of the animals it serves, like cows and salmon. By optimizing the feed mix, Nutreco is able to improve animal health and yield, helping customers improve their business profitability. With more than 100 production plants in 35 countries and 11 R&D centers in seven countries, harnessing these insights to support and add value to its customers is crucial. As part of its digital transformational journey, Nutreco required a global platform which could consolidate, contextualize and communicate key information. The 3,000-user global cloud deployment will help to harmonize global processes at Nutreco, de-risking operations and providing a modern cloud platform to support Nutreco's digital strategy.
Nutreco has been working with Infor's Digital agency, H&L Digital, on its transformation strategy, which includes re-imagining the customer experience for Nutreco customers – the farmers. Farmers can engage, query and specify requirements on any aspect of feed or animal health – creating a new differentiating service and value stream for Nutreco. As part of the next phase, Nutreco will also look to expand its relationship with Infor using its GT Nexus commerce network to digitize the supply chain for improved global visibility and collaboration around orders and inventory.
"Our customers in the farming community face a complex mix of challenges. For example, animals may not grow as expected because a cow requires increased feed, or water ph levels might be impacting the growth of fish, resulting in health issues, and if left, these problems can have a substantial impact on welfare and yield," comments Henry Van De Ven, CIO and Digital Leader, Nutreco. "As such, a business model focused on providing knowledge services on animal health and nutrition represents a great opportunity for us to add value to our customers and achieve differentiation. However, scaling this model and delivering it in a way which creates an appropriate and impressive customer experience is key to its success."
"Digital transformation is at the heart of what we are doing in this regard, and it was imperative that we worked with a partner that we trusted implicitly, not a supplier, to achieve our end goal. We have absolute confidence in the Infor team and are genuinely excited to pursue our transformational journey with them and see tangible value and benefits at each stage."
"All businesses are starting to see the opportunity afforded by digital," comments Andrew Kinder, VP Industry Strategy, Infor. "For Nutreco, moving to a cloud model was crucial in de-risking and consolidating processes globally across more than 100 production plants. Through using digital technologies to deliver operational efficiencies, as well as create new services, Nutreco is in a strong position to add value to its end customers in the farming industry, and increase market share. The team at Nutreco is incredibly visionary and represents best practice in its sector, and we are delighted to be working in tandem on this transformational journey."
