The recognition was highlighted by a Grand Award in Electronic Media in the 2016 APEX Awards for Publication Excellence. The award was presented for a digital app collection of nurse stories called "The Next Shift," which was released for National Nurses Week in 2015. The project was part of a partnership with the Johnson & Johnson Campaign for Nursing's Future.
"The high point of this year's awards is the fact that we were recognized for content across multiple platforms," said Heather Cygan, OnCourse Learning's vice president of content marketing. "The judges were impressed by our content featured in blogs, video, infographics, social media, digital apps and print. We strive to provide our audience with relevant content on multiple digital platforms that focuses on pertinent information to help professionals in their careers and education."
APEX received 1,600 entries for its 2016 competition, but awarded only 86 Grand Awards.
Nurse.com also won APEX award certificates for the May 2015 National Nurses Week edition of the New York/New Jersey magazine (Print-Entire Issue Over 32 Pages category), the Scrubbed In blog (Blog Content category) and a video for National Nurses Week 2015 (Video Media category).
In the annual Hermes Creative Awards, Nurse.com won a Gold Award for the May 2015 New York/New Jersey National Nurses Week print edition. Two articles earned honorable mention awards in the Hermes competition – "Music to nurses' ears," which highlighted nurses from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital who took part in a leadership program with orchestra conductor Roger Nierenberg, and "Caring for the nation's immigrant children," which concentrated on the role nurses play in providing care to thousands of Central American children who have immigrated to the U.S.
The American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors bestowed a Silver Award for Best Use of Social Media in its 2016 Awards Competition for the "Nurses Do So Much" infographic campaign. The infographic was done in partnership with the Campaign for Nursing's Future.
