Nu Skin and Raritan Share How the Skin-Care Giant Gave its IT Operations a Makeover with a New Smart Data Center
SOMERSET, N.J., Oct. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Raritan, a leading provider of data center infrastructure management (DCIM) and rack power distribution solutions, in concert with Nu Skin Enterprises, Inc. will present at next week's 7x24 Exchange conference in Phoenix, AZ. The presentation will focus on how the skin-care global giant created a new smart and future-proofed data center.
Scaling for the Future: a case study on Nu Skin's "Innovation Center"
10:15 am on Wednesday, October 29, 2014
Presented by: Jim Bolinder, Senior Manager of Technical Operations at Nu Skin, and Jon Inaba
Director of Power Management Solutions at Raritan.
Hear how Nu Skin, the premier anti-aging skin-care product company, designed and optimized a new data center to keep pace with the company's growth. Operating in 54 countries, Nu Skin has more than one million independent distributors and has achieved record revenues and profits in recent years.
The data center team recently built a new 4,200-square-foot data center with 10,000 square feet of expansion capabilities. The data center was designed using N+ 1 criterion to accommodate future growth, and supports today's higher densities -- including blade servers -- and LEED requirements for decreased energy use.
The team also added intelligent monitoring capabilities in the data center cabinets to keep tabs on power, cooling, and network, telecom and server equipment health. Learn how the new data center's design and monitoring tools help Nu Skin meet SLAs and reduce operating costs.
"Session attendees will get an insider's look at the innovations behind Nu Skin's operations," said Raritan's Jon Inaba. "Our case study session should be of interest to data center managers who are facing capacity limits and looking to improve operational efficiencies, as well as those who are deploying high-density racks. I also encourage attendees to take a look at the new innovative products that Raritan will be showing at the conference. Our new intelligent rack PDU, the PX3, helps data centers be more energy efficient while economizing on its own power consumption; and, our new rack transfer switch -- with one of the fastest load transfers in the industry -- helps keep data centers operating optimally."
7x24 Exchange Booth #41
Raritan will be showcasing its extensive portfolio of rack iPDUs (intelligent power distribution units), DCIM software, KVM Switches and other solutions for managing data center resources efficiently.
New products on display will be Raritan's just-announced 3rd-generation iPDU, the PX3, with new energy-saving features and other enhancements to help data centers measure and monitor energy, cooling, capacity and overall health. Raritan's new Intelligent Rack Transfer Switch, which helps keep data center equipment operating through power failures, also will be on display. The switch uses an innovative hybrid design to provide fast power loss detection and load transfers that exceed that of other offerings in the market.
