NTT DOCOMO Appoints Technology Industry Veteran Mark Tapling CEO Of PacketVideo
Tapling Will Lead Pioneering Software Company to Next Phase of Growth Focused on Multi-Platform Media Solutions
SAN DIEGO and TOKYO, Feb. 7, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- PacketVideo, a fully-owned subsidiary of NTT DOCOMO, INC., today announced that Mark Tapling has joined the company as CEO and President. Mr. Tapling brings over 20 years of progressive experience in the strategy, growth and financial management of technology companies to his new position at PacketVideo, where he will focus on solidifying the company's leadership position in the media technology space.
In conjunction with the appointment of Mr. Tapling, PacketVideo founder and former CEO James Brailean, Ph.D. will leave the company to pursue other interests. Dr. Brailean will serve as an informal advisor to PacketVideo during the transition period.

Mr. Tapling has served as the CEO and director of both public and private firms, through all stages of company growth, and has been recognized as one of the Top 100 People to Watch in Knowledge Management. A former recipient of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, Mr. Tapling received his B.S. from Michigan State University.
