NTP Software CEO Elected Vice Chairman of SNIA Storage Security Subcommittee

NASHUA, N.H., Dec. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- NTP Software®, the worldwide leader in File Data Management, today announced that its CEO, Bruce Backa, has been elected as Vice Chairman of the storage security subcommittee for the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA), a not-for-profit organization responsible for the development of storage solution specifications and technologies, global standards and storage education. Backa begins his term January 2, 2014.

From vendors to channel partners to end users, SNIA's 400 member companies are dedicated to providing the industry with a high level of knowledge exchange and thought leadership.  The goal of the organization is to promote acceptance, deployment and confidence in storage-related architectures, systems, services and technologies across IT and business communities.  Backa will be the Vice Chairman of the Storage Security Industry Forum (SSIF), a SNIA subcommittee that brings together storage and security professionals, security practitioners and academics to contribute to a better understanding of storage security and how it applies to organizations.

Backa, recognized as Technology Pioneer by the World Economic Forum, founded NTP Software nearly 20 years ago. He has also held CTO positions at the international insurance and financial services firm AIG and the American Stock Exchange. He has several U.S. and international patents related to data management, and was awarded the Kemeny Prize in Computing from Dartmouth College.
