CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Sept. 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Executive leaders from 20 social service and behavioral health organizations in the Greater Philadelphia area attended a fundraising seminar hosted by NSM Insurance Group's Social Service- Behavioral Health Practice on Sept. 8 at the Union League of Philadelphia. The seminar featured a presentation by Patrick Feeley, Chief Development Officer and Executive Vice President of Caron Treatment Centers, who spoke about the critical role of fundraising, events and capital campaigns in allowing nonprofits to thrive in the current economically challenging environment.
Debra Lacks, President and CEO of Wordsworth Academy, was one of the local executives who attended the event. "During this time of increased need and decreased resources, fundraising is becoming more and more essential to our ability to live out our mission. As we work to create a culture of philanthropy at Wordsworth, support from our partners is critical. Participating in NSM's event allowed us to learn from our peers, particularly Patrick Feeley, and to consider new options for weaving a culture of giving into the work that we do with our board, our staff and our supporters," Lacks said.
Keynote speaker Patrick Feeley, CRFE, has extensive experience in gifts, capital support, fundraising and cause marketing. Before joining the Caron Treatment Centers, he worked in development at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and at La Salle University and Junior Achievement overseeing successful fundraising campaigns.
NSM's Social Service- Behavioral Health Practice offers risk management trainings, industry seminars, networking events and guest speaker sessions throughout the year. The group invites clients and leaders from behavioral health and social service organizations to attend.
On Nov. 3, the Practice will host another guest speaker sessions at the Union League of Philadelphia where David Pegg, Partner at Enhanced Equity NYC, will lead a discussion around the emergence of mergers and acquisitions in the behavioral healthcare sector.
