ITASCA, Ill., Oct. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Safety Council is pleased to announce the launch of the NSC Safety Ambassador Program, which encourages individuals to bring safety back home and into their communities by participating in activities that educate about the leading causes of preventable death and injury.
With preventable deaths at an all-time high, NSC hopes to engage at the community level through grassroots efforts. The NSC Safety Ambassador Program provides information, turnkey tools and resources to help Americans teach one another how to improve the safety of those closest to them.
The Council is launching Safety Ambassadors at the NSC Congress & Expo - the world's largest annual safety event – in Houston Oct. 20-26.
"When people understand the greatest risks to their safety and wellbeing, most will take steps to mitigate those risks," said NSC President and CEO Deborah A.P. Hersman. "We hope the Safety Ambassador Program inspires others to bring their safety knowledge home and instill the same passion in those they love."
Program participants can complete a variety of activities to become a Safety Ambassador, from organizing a local event, giving a presentation or contacting their local legislators on a crucial safety issue. NSC offers prepared materials, resources and instructions for each activity.
Individuals who sign up and complete an eligible activity through the program will receive an official certificate and pin from the National Safety Council to show they are helping NSC reach its goal of eliminating preventable deaths.
