WASHINGTON, April 24, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association is proud to host a series of online seminars for professionals and consumers during its second annual Reverse Mortgage Education Week running today through Friday, April 28. The industry outreach initiative to professionals who work with older adults—including home care executives, home modification and design specialists, financial advisors, and real estate agents—will also include a reverse mortgage Q&A with Next Avenue, public media's journalism service for the booming aging population, on Tuesday at 1:00 PM ET when NRMLA experts will answer consumer questions during a live webinar.
"Our second annual Reverse Mortgage Education Week will build on last year's successful effort to raise awareness of the home equity options available to older homeowners who are aging in place. Our planned activities, which coincide with Financial Literacy Month, bring together experts from across the industry to provide older homeowners, their families, and the professionals who serve them, with information about how reverse mortgage loans can be used to supplement retirement savings and contribute to long-term economic well-being," said NRMLA President and CEO Peter Bell.
The six Reverse Mortgage Education Week webinars will provide attendees with an overview of the Federal Housing Administration's Home Equity Conversion Mortgage program, which insures reverse mortgages, and specific examples of how seniors can use a HECM reverse mortgage loan to: manage the costs of in-home care services not covered by Medicare, make home modifications to safely support aging-in-place, purchase a new home, support separated spouses after a later-in-life divorce, and more.
Featured guest speakers include leading retirement income planning expert Jamie Hopkins from the American College of Financial Services; Prosper Home Care CEO Doug Lueder; certified divorce financial analyst Diane Pappas; nationally recognized authority on aging in place Louis Tenenbaum; home modification specialist Todd Brickhouse; and Marty Bell, the Executive Director of the National Aging in Place Council.
