In a National Press Club Newsmakers news conference, 10 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in the Lisagor Room in the National Press Building, 529 14th St., NW, Washington, D.C., Ward will detail the critical decisions made to ensure the National 9/11 Memorial will open by the 10th anniversary, the major developments over the past year and what to expect on the 10th anniversary and in the future.
As the largest and most complex construction site in the world, the new World Trade Center will be home to a national memorial and museum of emotional and engineering complexity, the tallest skyscraper in the country, a transportation hub that will serve 250,000 commuters daily, and a world-class retail space. It will also host thousands of workers moving into 10 million square feet of new office space.
Ward led the historic turnaround of the World Trade Center project, developing the "Road Map Forward" plan in October 2008, when he was first appointed to get the project on track and ensure the 9/11 Memorial would open by the 10th anniversary.
