Walker, who served as U.S. comptroller general and head of the Government Accountability Office from 1998 to 2008, will discuss the long-term risks to the U.S. economy from the burgeoning federal deficits and dependence on foreign lenders. He will then offer his own solutions, proposing reforms of Social Security, health care spending, defense spending, taxation, international trade policy and election law. The publication of "Comeback America" comes just ahead of President Obama's State of the Union address and his budget submission for Fiscal Year 2011.
Copies of Walker's book will be available for purchase and signing for $26. Proceeds benefit the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library, and no outside books are permitted.
