NPA Introduces Parking Safety Certificate Program
Micro-credential program provides parking facility safety and risk reduction tools
WASHINGTON, Dec. 5, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Parking Association (NPA) has launched a Parking Safety Certificate program for parking professionals to learn vital parking safety approaches. The Parking Safety Certificate is part of NPA's micro-credentials program for developing critical skills in the parking industry. This certificate covers policy, procedure and management, facility safety standards, parking risk management and incident handling.
In order to earn NPA's Parking Safety Certificate, parking professionals must complete three modules that highlight critical safety threats and risks for parking operations. The courses, which are online and can be taken at one's own pace, are:
- Parking Safety Fundamentals: Assessment Planning & Training
- Case Study: Facility Design, Lighting, Technology & Wayfinding for Safety
- Safety in Action: Identifying Risks, Response & Incident Handling
"Safety and security is a key component to the business of parking, and the 24/7 training NPA offers provides proactive and reactive safety measures needed for today's parking facilities," said NPA president Christine Banning, MA, CAE.
Earlier this year, NPA introduced a Human Resources Certificate, in which participants learn to effectively hire, orient, train and motivate employees. Additionally, NPA Convention & Exposition attendees were eligible to earn a certificate covering emergency preparedness.
Courses are available online at Learning.WeAreParking.org, and fees for the certificate program are $150 for NPA members and $195 for non-members.
