NPA Honors Gary Pohrer with Harwood Leadership & Legends Award
Co-Chairman of St. Louis Parking Company and Former NPA Board Director
WASHINGTON, Feb. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Yesterday, the National Parking Association (NPA) honored Gary Pohrer of the St. Louis Parking Company with the parking industry's highest honor, the Brett Harwood Leadership & Legends Award. The award was presented to Pohrer at the NPA Winter Leadership Forum. This prestigious national honor recognizes lifelong leadership, excellence and integrity.
"The NPA Board of Directors selected Pohrer as the 2018 honoree for his dedication to professionalism and integrity," said NPA President Christine Banning, MA, CAE. The award was presented to Pohrer, on behalf of the NPA, by Mark Muglich, past NPA board chair and former president of ABM Parking Services. Of Pohrer, Mark said, "Gary has worked in the parking industry since 1958. He has been a great mentor and inspiration to many at the NPA, including me. He has supported the NPA foundation, the industry and served as a mentor to many through the years. "
Gary Pohrer is currently co-chairman of St. Louis Parking Company, alongside his brother, Jack Pohrer. St Louis Parking Company is a three generation family-owned business founded by Gary Pohrer's father, Edward F. Pohrer, in 1933. Edward Pohrer served as NPA board chair from 1960-1962.
Gary Pohrer is a long-time member of NPA and served as a member of the board. He entered the parking industry in 1958 and has been active in all facets of the business, with emphasis on financial analysis, development and operations. He is also a former member of Downtown St. Louis Partnership where he has served on the Traffic and Security Committee and Riverfront Development Committee and is a past recipient of the prestigious Levee Stone Award. Pohrer also served on the Central West End Association Board of Directors. He is a member of BOMA (Building Owners and Managers Association) and the Clayton Chamber of Commerce. Pohrer is a graduate of Saint Louis University High School and Holy Cross College.
St. Louis Parking Company manages, owns and leases over 100 parking facilities consisting of over 57,000 parking spaces. Its facilities are supported by a team of parking professionals consisting of 50 managers, supervisors and as well as over 350 hourly associates available to meet the demands in the St. Louis area.
