Novus Scientific & Surgical Momentum Partner for Continuous Quality Improvement Program (CQI)
Improving patient outcomes by combining revolutionary patient care concepts with a new breed of Surgical Mesh.
SINGAPORE, Feb. 21, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Novus Scientific today announced an agreement between its CEO Thomas Engstrom, and Thomas Lennon, Jr., CEO of Surgical Momentum LLC, starting an exciting working relationship involving a new breed of surgical mesh - TIGR® Matrix Surgical Mesh.
The Novus Scientific and Surgical Momentum teams have worked together to design a continuous quality improvement (CQI) program that will analyze the use of TIGR® Matrix for the reinforcement of soft tissue where weakness exists. The teams will define the clinical processes, size of the patient population, outcomes measured and determine the clinical site(s) for the project. The initial phase of the study is expected to last for a period of at least one year.
It became clear in early discussions between Novus and Surgical Momentum that their goals were aligned, making partnership a very compelling possibility. Novus Scientific is the very first surgical mesh product manufacturer to sign an agreement with Surgical Momentum. The agreement's defining objective is "the identification and conversion of clinical need into life-improving applications and devices that improve patient care."
"This agreement between Novus Scientific and Surgical Momentum could not have come at a more exciting time in the lifecycle of TIGR® Matrix," said Thomas Engstrom, CEO of Novus Scientific. "We have already gained a huge amount of insight into the potential of TIGR® Matrix thanks to Surgical Momentum's encouragement, and we look forward to receiving the data that emerges from the CQI program and converting it into pure benefit for patients and clinicians in the future."
Surgical Momentum's goal is to improve patient outcomes by addressing the inherent complexity of patient care. It uses an innovative Clinical Continuous Quality Improvement process to support, analyze and improve care. By replacing hierarchical, antiquated systems and protocols with real-time adaptive processes and new roles that emphasize better communication and coordination between all stakeholders, Surgical Momentum has seen dramatic improvements in clinical results.
Dr. Bruce Ramshaw, one of the founders of Surgical Momentum and its Chief Medical Officer, stated: "I believe that industrial revolution organization, structures and work models will not allow for individual autonomy, mastery and purpose for our health care workforce, no matter what technology or tools are developed. We have moved beyond the information age to the age of networks and relationships. Our model for patient care is a direct reflection of this belief."
TIGR® Matrix Surgical Mesh is available for sale in the U.S. and selected countries in Europe and Asia.
