"I've seen a positive impact from making small changes with my overall health and in managing my diabetes, y'all," said Paula. "I'm a big believer that sharing your story about healthier living can really help inspire and educate others, and motivate your own journey at the same time. That's what this coming year and the Seeing Diabetes in a New Light® contest mean to me. We want to inspire people because together, we can make a difference."
This contest, which runs through April 14, 2013, was created to inspire others by asking adults with type 2 diabetes, or their loved ones, to share stories about the positive changes they have made to manage their disease. Six winners and their guests will be invited to Paula's hometown of Savannah, Ga., for a unique experience, as they join her in some of the activities she participates in daily to manage her diabetes. These activities include having a cozy diabetes-friendly lunch with Paula and her son Bobby at The Lady & Sons, taking a guided walking tour of Savannah, and attending an educational diabetes conference hosted by Taking Control of Your Diabetes.
Entries can be submitted through the Diabetes in a New Light® website at www.DiabetesinaNewLight.com. All qualified entrants will receive a Delicious Living Y'all e-recipe guide, featuring tips to manage type 2 diabetes as well as diabetes-friendly recipes created by Paula and her sons Bobby and Jamie, in conjunction with certified diabetes professionals.
To further support the diabetes community, Novo Nordisk will make a donation of $5.00 for every qualified entry received, up to $50,000, to key diabetes organizations, including Taking Control of Your Diabetes, the American Diabetes Association, and Diabetes Care and Education, a practice group of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In addition, Paula will share her personal experiences in managing the disease during several diabetes awareness events taking place across the country.
"As the world leader in diabetes care, Novo Nordisk is committed to our patients and to helping them be in control of their lives and their health," said Camille Lee, corporate senior vice president, Diabetes Marketing at Novo Nordisk. "We look forward to hearing how they, like Paula, are seeing diabetes 'in a new light' and are pleased to be supporting the diabetes community along the way."
Official Rules for submission are available by visiting www.DiabetesinaNewLight.com.
