Novation Wins Practice Greenhealth's Champion for Change Award for Tenth Consecutive Year
Recognized for Excellence in Improving Environmental Footprint
IRVING, Texas, April 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Novation, the leading health care supply chain expertise and contracting company for the members of VHA Inc., UHC, Children's Hospital Association, and Provista LLC, today announced that it has received the Champion for Change Award for the tenth consecutive year. The award recognizes Novation for its leadership and commitment to environmentally responsible health care. Practice Greenhealth announced the winners at the 2013 Environmental Excellence Awards banquet on April 25 at CleanMed 2013, the premier national environmental conference for leaders in health care sustainability, in Boston, Massachusetts.
"We are incredibly honored and proud to be honored with this prestigious health care industry award for 10 years in a row," said Jennifer Waddell, RN, senior manager of clinical solutions at Novation. "We firmly believe that environmental improvement efforts can not only have a direct and positive effect on patient and caregiver safety, but also can help hospitals reduce their overall costs."
The Champion for Change Award honors businesses that supply the health care sector which have not only taken steps to improve their organization's green practices, they have gone the extra mile to help their clients and associates expand their sustainable practices as well.
"The Champion for Change Award honors organizations that demonstrate leadership in reducing their environmental footprint," said Laura Wenger, RN, Executive Director of Practice Greenhealth. "Novation has extended their commitment beyond their internal practices to their clients and community to make even more of an impact."
As evidenced in a recent Health Care Research Collaborative study, "Can Sustainable Hospitals Help Bend the Health Care Cost Curve?," introducing environmental sustainability measures in hospitals not only results in significant savings, it won't increase operating costs. The implications are clear — given the return on investment, all hospitals should adopt and expand their sustainability programs.
Novation has a strong track record of supporting sustainability initiatives. For example, in October 2011, Novation announced its support of Practice Greenhealth's Greening the Supply Chain™ Initiative and its Standardized Environmental Questions for Medical Products.
The Champion for Change Award is reserved for organizational partners supplying health care products and services that are considerate of the earth and its resources. The winners of this Award have achieved success in greening their own organization and have also assisted others who are committed to improving their environmental performance.
