Novation Awards Exclusive Novaplus® Contract To World Centric Sustainable Foodservice Disposables Company
Contract delivers on Novation's goal to help members implement and maintain successful sustainability programs
IRVING, Texas, May 11, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Novation, the leading health care services company for more than 100,000 members and affiliates of VHA Inc., UHC, Children's Hospital Association and Provista, remains a health care sustainability leader by awarding a national NOVAPLUS private label contract to World Centric. Based in Petaluma, CA, World Centric is a manufacturer of plant-based sustainable foodservice products.
Novation is the only group purchase organization that has a private label agreement with World Centric. NOVAPLUS delivers the best financial value and quality on a broad range of products used most frequently by hospitals every day.
"We hold a longstanding belief in creating paths for environmentally friendly health care products," said Brent Gee, senior director, Novation. "This exclusive NOVAPLUS agreement with World Centric reinforces our commitment to environmentally preferred purchasing and helping the members and affiliates we serve positively affect the health of their staff, patients and communities."
Patients and health care workers are served hundreds of thousands of meals a day in cafeteria and catering operations. Made from corn and wheat straw, World Centric products provide a biodegradable alternative to disposable dining materials. In a landfill, most disposable dining containers and water bottles take from 10 to 1,000 years to decompose. World Centric compostable materials in commercial composting facilities return to the soil in four months or less.
"The NOVAPLUS contract provides us a platform to help health care facilities realize sustainability goals while improving the effect they have on the environment and patient health," said World Centric CEO Aseem Das. "Our products are low-impact on the environment, plant-based and entirely compostable – meaning the product will turn back to soil along with food waste after meals. This is a great opportunity for our company to help 'green' a national network of health care facilities."
