Novasep and Mega Sign a Strategic Technology Partnership to Develop Whey Treatment Solutions for the Dairy Industry
Electrodialysis and Manufacturing Process Companies Come Together to Design the Most Cost-Effective Whey Demineralization Solutions Offering Guaranteed Performance
POMPEY, France and STRAZ POD RASKEM, Czech Republic, November 10, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Novasep, a leading supplier of manufacturing solutions to the life sciences industry, and Mega, a technology leader in electrodialysis, today announce a strategic technology partnership in the field of whey treatment. The companies will combine Mega's advanced electrodialysis technology with the whey demineralization solutions from Novasep Process, the biomolecule division of Novasep that provides purification process lines for the fields of bio-industries, food ingredients, and biopharmaceuticals. This will enable both partners to propose a range of cost-effective processes for all qualities of demineralized whey, with guaranteed performance.
The alliance brings a significant addition to the technology portfolio of Novasep Process, being able to now offer an even wider range of manufacturing process solutions to customers in the dairy industry. The cooperation will also provide Novasep Process with better access to Central and Eastern European as well as Indian markets, in which Mega has a strong commercial presence. Conversely, it will also increase the visibility of Mega's electrodialysis technology in the other geographic zones through the active promotion by Novasep and through its integration within global processes guaranteed by Novasep.
Today, alternate whey demineralization solutions using electrodialysis are energy-consuming and require frequent replacement of membranes. On the contrary, Mega's proprietary technology reduces electricity consumption and provides a membrane lifetime guarantee for up to 4 years, strongly minimizing maintenance costs. Mega and Novasep Process have designed a range of processes optimized for any crude and demineralized whey qualities, associating Mega's technology with Novasep Process technologies including ion exchange and nanofiltration (NF). Through this alliance, Novasep Process' offering includes process design and development, turn-key system engineering, supply and commissioning, customer service and consumables.
"I am delighted with Novasep Process' cooperation with Mega, a company that is a technology leader in electro-membrane processes," said Antoine Baule, president of Novasep Process. "This alliance further enriches Novasep Process' portfolio of technologies and will enable us to better serve our clients in the dairy industry for their whey processing requirements."
This alliance in the process field enhances the capabilities of both partners to better serve their respective customers in the field. Lubos Novak, president and CEO of Mega, added, "Novasep is a global leader in process solutions for food ingredient manufacturing. This partnership will enable both companies to design strongly enhanced solutions, through collaborative product and process development."
