CHICAGO, April 2, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- As the sun sets in North Miami Beach, Florida, not only are palm trees casting shadows, but a new "bigger and better" Costco is as well. After 27 years at its former location, the relocated North Miami store is now open. This site is almost 10% larger with 693 parking spaces across 15.6 acres.
"This project was particular as it included the construction of a concrete capped drainage basin within the parking area to handle the site storm water. The drain basin houses 6 injection wells and was capped with concrete to allow for the additional on-site parking stalls above," noted Project Manager, Mike Krzyszton. "This was a challenging phase of the project as it included the installation of deep foundation elements and several weeks of extensive dewatering."
In addition to the warehouse and drainage basin, Novak constructed a new 18-stall Gas Station at the northeast corner of Sole Mia Boulevard and Biscayne Landings Boulevard.
This marks the 171st project Novak Construction has completed for Costco Wholesale over a 17- year partnership. Novak currently has 8 Costco projects underway.
